TALISMAN is seeking a Senior Control Center and SCADA Engineer to lead and coordinate utility-scale renewables projects in/around Houston. You will guide cross-functional teams from late-stage development through construction, commissioning, COD, and handover, ensuring safety, schedule, cost, and quality alignment.

Based in the greater Houston area with a hybrid work model (3 days in office / 2 remote), you will partner with Finance, Legal, Engineering, and Asset Management to deliver projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible project management experience in energy, infrastructure, construction, or related industry.
  • Proven track record managing full-lifecycle EPC projects in utility-scale renewable energy through COD.
  • Strong knowledge of scope definition, contractor evaluation, project economics, EPC contracts, constructability reviews, and executive reporting.

Senior Control Center and SCADA Engineer – Utility-Scale Renewable Energy

Job Summary:

This role will report to and support the Head of Project Management in leading the execution of utility-scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects. This role is accountable for delivering assigned projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with commercial, contractual, financing, and operational commitments, leading cross-functional project teams from late-stage development through construction, commissioning, COD, and handover, with responsibility for safety leadership, EPC contractor performance, schedule and cost control, risk mitigation, contract administration, change management, claims avoidance, stakeholder alignment, and executive-level reporting.


The position is based in the greater Houston, TX area with a hybrid work model (3 days office / 2 days remote).


Main Responsibilities:


  • Provide visible safety leadership across the project lifecycle

  • Lead assigned utility-scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects from late-stage development through construction, commissioning, COD, and turnover to Asset Management

  • Drive cross-functional project execution across safety, quality, schedule, cost, risk, commercial commitments, and stakeholder alignment

  • Manage EPC contractor performance against contractual obligations, milestones, deliverables, notices, and recovery plans

  • Own project schedule management — baseline development, critical path analysis, progress measurement, forecasting, recovery planning

  • Coordinate with Finance and internal stakeholders on budgets, reforecasts, cost trends, and contingency tracking

  • Prepare executive-level reporting on project status, risks, decisions, and COD/budget confidence

  • Lead commercial/contractual review of change orders and claims with Legal, Procurement, Engineering, HSE, and Finance

  • Administer EPC and related project contracts, preserving contractual rights and managing commercial correspondence

  • Maintain an integrated project risk register (safety, permitting, interconnection, engineering, procurement, construction, schedule, commercial, financial)

  • Lead disciplined project governance — decision logs, action registers, change logs, closeout and handover documentation

  • Support project financing and investor diligence, tracking closure of open items with internal teams, investors, and independent engineers

  • Engage utilities, interconnection stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to support energization, synchronization, commissioning, and COD readiness

  • Support CAPEX estimate development and validation

  • Capture and present project lessons learned for future execution improvements


Qualifications:


  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer (no sponsorship offered)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related technical discipline

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible project management experience in energy, infrastructure, construction, or related industry

  • Proven track record managing full-lifecycle EPC projects in utility-scale renewable energy through COD

  • Strong knowledge of scope definition, contractor evaluation, project economics, EPC contracts, constructability reviews, and executive reporting

  • Demonstrated experience managing utility-scale wind, solar, and/or battery storage projects through handover

  • Experience administering EPC contracts, evaluating change orders, and developing defensible commercial positions

  • Strong commercial acumen connecting technical, construction, permitting, and interconnection issues to cost/schedule/risk

  • Experience managing project controls — baseline schedules, critical path analysis, cost forecasting

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams across Development, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, Finance, HSE, Asset Management, utilities, contractors, and investors

  • Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with project management/controls platforms


Preferred Qualifications:


  • PMP certification or equivalent

  • Degree in Electrical, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering

  • Understanding of utility interconnection requirements (FERC, ISO/RTO tariffs, interconnection agreements)

  • EPC negotiation, dispute avoidance, and claims defense experience

  • Familiarity with AACE cost estimate classes and stage-gate governance

  • Experience with MS Project, Primavera P6, Power BI, Procore, Oracle, or SAP

  • Experience mentoring project managers, engineers, or analysts
