Senior SAP Business/Data Analyst - Cloud Data

• Onsite in NYC 4x a week (WFH on Fridays)

Our client is a global manufacturer with offices in NYC. They currently have an immediate need for a Senior Business/Data Analyst with strong SAP, data analysis, and cloud-data experience to support the development of modern data capabilities and cloud-based solutions. This role will bridge business stakeholders, data/engineering teams, and project teams by translating business needs into clear requirements, data specifications, process improvements, and actionable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze current business processes, identify gaps and opportunities, and design improved AS-IS/TO-BE workflows leveraging modern cloud and data technologies.
• Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements, translating them into clear specifications for both business and technical teams.
• Partner with data engineering and functional teams to define, map, and document enterprise data requirements and integration needs.
• Lead analysis of SAP data domains, including sales, purchasing, inventory, and related business processes, and help define how these datasets should be modeled within cloud data platforms.
• Develop functional specifications, process documentation, standard operating procedures, and supporting data/process documentation.
• Support business process re-engineering and systems modernization initiatives.
• Define approaches for measuring process effectiveness and performance against established metrics.
• Present findings, recommendations, process models, and proposed solutions to business and technical stakeholders.
• Participate throughout the SDLC, including requirements gathering, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, solution validation, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Manage multiple initiatives as needed while maintaining strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on SAP techno-functional experience, with strong knowledge of SAP business data and datasets.
• 10+ years of IT experience, including significant experience in business/systems analysis, data analysis, and large-scale technology implementations.
• Strong understanding of data modeling and data mapping, including translating SAP datasets into cloud-based/non-SAP data environments.
• Experience developing functional requirements and specifications for data solutions.
• Strong knowledge of business process analysis and re-engineering.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog management, and sprint ceremonies.
• Proficiency with process and requirements modeling techniques such as process flows, swim lanes, use cases, AS-IS/TO-BE diagrams, and wireframes.
• Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with Jira is a plus.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other cloud-data technologies is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of web applications and information security principles.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree is REQUIRED.
• CBAP or similar business analysis certification is a plus.
