Job summary

Gusto is seeking a Salesforce Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable Apex solutions on the Salesforce platform, supporting our Sales and CX teams.

You’ll leverage AI coding assistants and sf CLI throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring robust change/release practices and high-quality, well-documented code.

Note: a two-day onboarding travel to a Gusto office is required for this position; compensation targets vary by location and role, with flexible remote options.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years developing on the Salesforce platform in Apex.
  • Salesforce Platform Developer I and/or Application Architect certification(s).
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce platform architecture, with experience using the sf CLI and Salesforce change/release management best practices.
  • Fluent, daily use of AI coding assistants across the development lifecycle with strong judgment on when to apply them.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable Apex solutions on the Salesforce platform that support our Sales and CX teams.
  • Use AI coding assistants throughout the development lifecycle to write, review, debug, and document code.
  • Oversee ongoing improvements to deployed features and measure their impact.
  • Apply Salesforce platform architecture and change/release management best practices, using sf cli for deployments.
  • Write well-structured, easily maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Build, test, and debug reliable production systems at scale, ideally real-time, event-driven, or high-throughput.
  • Contribute to codebases beyond Salesforce when the work calls for it.
