Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to implement the Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites, ensuring a safe environment for crews, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction site.

This role offers two levels (I and II) with compensation determined by experience and location. Accepted locations include Omaha, NE and Lincoln, NE. Travel up to 100% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent.
• Or high school diploma with CHST Certification, OSHA 500, and 10 years construction safety leadership experience.
• Minimum of four years of construction safety experience.
• Current valid driver's license.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety software programs.
• Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Safety Engineer that will be responsible for implementing Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site.

This position offers opportunities at both levels 1 and 2, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent;
• OR
• High school diploma with CHST Certification, OSHA 500, and a minimum of 10 years construction experience leading crews and planning work, to include at least six years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing project safety programs, conducting / reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, and planning work activities or equivalent experience in a relevant field
• Minimum of four years of construction safety experience
• Current valid driver's license
• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant safety software programs
• Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively
• Willingness to travel up to 100%

Senior Safety Engineer I:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: See Above

The base pay range for this role is $89,500 MIN - $120,800 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Senior Safety Engineer II:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 10 years construction experience leading crews and planning work, including six years as a dedicated construction safety professional training, and planning work activities or equivalent experience in a relevant field

Minimum of five years of construction safety experience

The base pay range for this role is $95,700 MIN - $129,200 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
