Job summary

CFD Research Corporation seeks a senior rotordynamics finite element engineer to evaluate rotating machinery via modal, harmonic and transient analyses. You will work with the structural, fluid and thermal teams to improve reliability and reduce vibration.

Qualifications include a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 6+ years in turbomachinery and proficiency in Abaqus/SolidWorks; familiarity with ANSYS/NASTRAN and HPC workflows is a plus. Occasional travel to Hollywood, AL may be required.

Qualifications

• US citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 6+ years hands-on turbomachinery experience.
• Proficiency with Abaqus and SolidWorks.
• Experience with Campbell diagrams, critical speeds, and frequency response functions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate linear dynamic FEA models to generate Campbell diagrams.
• Identify critical speeds, rotational clearance, and high cycle fatigue.
• Produce engineering reports and support design reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams at multiple facilities; travel as needed.
