Job summary

Archer Aviation, based in San Jose, California, seeks an experienced engineer to join the rotor analysis team. You will perform detailed structural analyses of rotor systems, blades, and control components, and support ground and flight testing to validate designs.

The role emphasizes fatigue life prediction for metallic and composite structures, FE method proficiency, and mentoring junior engineers to establish best practices across the program. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in design and analysis of critical aircraft structures.
  • Proficient in FE software (ANSYS/NASTRAN) and fatigue/damage tolerance knowledge.
  • Able to read drawings and interpret CAD models (NX preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience coaching others.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed structural analyses of rotor system components, blades, and control systems.
  • Evaluate static strength and fatigue life for metallic and composite structures under flight and ground loads.
  • Assess dynamic response of rotorcraft components and predict life for high/low cycle fatigue.
  • Author substantiation reports and supporting technical documentation.
  • Support ground and flight testing, including test setup, instrumentation, and data reduction.
  • Collaborate with aerodynamics and loads teams to optimize rotor performance and data delivery.
