Job summary

Heaviside Industries in Los Angeles, CA, seeks a robotics software engineer to develop embedded software in C++ and Python, and to build and integrate applications using ROS and PX4.

You will integrate sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces, and advance control, navigation, and autonomous capabilities while participating in design discussions, code reviews, and testing across simulation, bench, and field trials.

ABOUT HEAVISIDE INDUSTRIES

WHAT WILL YOU DO

• Develop robotics and embedded software using C++ and Python.
• Build and integrate applications using ROS and PX4.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Strong programming skills in C++ and practical experience with Python.
• Hands-on experience with ROS and PX4; ROS 2 experience is preferred.
• Experience developing and debugging software on Linux.
• Familiarity with robotics fundamentals, including control systems, coordinate frames, and sensor integration.
• Experience working with embedded systems and physical hardware.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with autonomous vehicles or mobile robots.
• Knowledge of state estimation, sensor fusion, or motion planning.
• Experience with simulation and automated testing.
• Familiarity with MAVLink, DDS, or similar communication protocols.
• Experience with computer vision or embedded computing platforms.

Additional:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
