Job summary

Ara is seeking a senior robotics engineer to join our on-site team in San Antonio, TX. You will design and optimize high-performance C++ code for embedded robotics, build virtual models and simulation environments, and develop ROS/ROS2 frameworks to integrate subsystems.

You will work with Gazebo, Unity, and Unreal Engine to test algorithms before deployment, analyze data from simulations and hardware, and contribute to advanced robotics projects in a dynamic engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in robotics software development and embedded/real-time systems.
• Expert-level proficiency in modern C++ (C++11/14/17+) for embedded/real-time.
• Experience with simulation environments (Gazebo, Unity, Unreal Engine) for robotics.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across hardware and software.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize high-performance, real-time C++ code for embedded systems, robotics control, and simulation infrastructure.
• Create, maintain, and optimize virtual models and simulation environments to test and refine robotic systems and algorithms before deployment.
• Develop software frameworks (ROS/ROS2) and algorithms for controlling and integrating robotic subsystems.
• Analyze data from simulations and hardware to optimize performance and diagnose issues.
