Job summary

Holiday Robotics Research Inc. in Mountain View, CA is seeking a Senior Research Scientist / Engineer to lead dynamics, planning, and control for FRIDAY, the mobile humanoid robot.

You will design and deploy real-time planning and control architectures for whole-body manipulation and safe navigation in dynamic environments. You will collaborate with hardware, perception, robot learning, and simulation teams to validate digital twins, perform system identification, and close the sim-to-real gap

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Robotics or related field
• 7+ years robotics experience in dynamics, planning or control
• Fundamentals in rigid-body mechanics, kinematics, Jacobians, control theory
• Ability to turn research into production-ready software on real robotic hardware
• Experience with at least one core area and familiarity with others

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and own the architecture of the real-time planning and control stack for whole-body mobile manipulation.
• Integrate perception and state estimation for collision avoidance, online re-planning, safe navigation and robust behavior in dynamic environments.
• Design and execute system identification experiments to characterize rigid-body dynamics, actuator dynamics, friction, and latency; use models to improve control and simulation fidelity.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, perception, robot learning, and simulation researchers to validate digital twins and reduce the sim-to-real gap.
