Job summary

Divergent is seeking an Automation Engineer to advance our Advanced Manufacturing team in Los Angeles. You will implement automation and robotics systems in production, supporting day-to-day operations, refining processes, and enabling scalability with high-precision hardware across aerospace, automotive, and defense programs.

The role emphasizes hands-on programming, simulation studies, and collaboration with engineers and vendors to deliver robust robotic solutions.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent discipline or 6+ years’ aerospace/automotive manufacturing experience.
• Experience in robotic simulation studies or hands-on programming of six-axis robots.
• Proficiency with CAD and simulation tools such as NX and Tecnomatix.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Create Simulation Studies in Process Simulate on Teamcenter (Tecnomatix).
• Maintain manufacturing data for automated work centers.
• Maintain kinematic libraries of hardware systems in robotic simulations.
• Generate optimal assembly sequences and validate feasibility.
• Program robots and automated systems for specified tasks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues to ensure smooth operation.
• Create and maintain documentation for automation systems and training materials.
• Train and mentor team members on automation systems.
• Analyze data to identify improvements and propose solutions.
• Collaborate with suppliers to procure equipment and components.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
