Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Roadway Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams delivering complex roadway and highway infrastructure across North Carolina. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, and profitability while guiding business development and mentoring staff.

You will coordinate with NCDOT and local agencies, ensuring compliance with standards and achieving project milestones. Travel within NC is expected as needed, with a focus on client service and sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in North Carolina or ability to obtain North Carolina licensure within six months
  • Significant experience managing transportation infrastructure projects
  • Experience tracking project invoicing, including billable hours, expenses, and project milestones
  • Proven experience working with NCDOT, municipal agencies, counties, MPOs/RPOs, and other transportation clients
  • Willingness to travel occasionally throughout North Carolina for project-related meetings and client engagements

As a Senior Roadway Project Manager, you'll join a collaborative team focused on delivering complex roadway and highway infrastructure projects across North Carolina while helping clients solve their most critical transportation challenges.

In this role, you'll lead multidisciplinary project teams, drive project delivery, and build trusted relationships with transportation clients throughout the state. You'll be responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and profitability while supporting business development efforts, mentoring team members, and contributing to the continued growth of Jacobs' transportation practice in North Carolina.

What You'll Do

Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in North Carolina or ability to obtain North Carolina licensure within six months

  • Experience tracking project invoicing, including billable hours, expenses, and project milestones

Ideally, you’ll also have
  • 12+ years of experience managing transportation infrastructure projects
  • Established client relationships with NCDOT and local transportation agencies across North Carolina
  • Experience leading project delivery and client engagement activities
  • Strong proposal development and technical writing skills
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Technical knowledge of highway and roadway design, including horizontal and vertical geometrics, drainage, utilities, traffic signals, signing, lighting, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, and specifications
  • Strong understanding of AASHTO and NCDOT design standards and their application
  • Experience performing quality control throughout all phases of design and plan production
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and other roadway design software
  • Active involvement in professional organizations such as ASCE, ACEC, ITE, or North Carolina transportation industry associations

The base salary range for this position is $134,500.00 to $195,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
