Job summary

Weston & Sampson is seeking a Senior Transportation Road Design Manager to lead road and highway design and project delivery across the Southeast. You’ll manage complex DOT and local roadway projects— including widening, intersection improvements, and corridor upgrades — while guiding and developing a talented team of engineers and designers.

We’re 100% employee-owned, interdisciplinary, offering design, engineering and environmental services since 1899.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of road design experience, including leadership of large DOT or municipal projects.
• Experience leading multi-discipline design teams and managing budgets.
• Familiarity with NCDOT/SCDOT design manuals and regulations.
• Excellent written and oral communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead road design projects from concept through construction.
• Oversee technical design teams ensuring compliance with standards.
• Serve as primary client liaison for delivery, quality, and performance.
• Review design calculations, plans, and specifications.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and project managers.
• Support proposal development and business growth through technical leadership.
