Job summary

Vitol Biomethane, part of the Vitol group, is seeking a Senior RNG Technician in Mt Vernon, Alabama. You will lead daily RNG plant operations, oversee GCCS and pipeline systems, and mentor junior technicians in a fast-paced field environment.

You will ensure safe, compliant operation, troubleshoot advanced control systems, and coordinate maintenance with cross-functional teams. Relocation assistance is provided as part of joining the Mt Vernon site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• 3+ years of RNG/landfill gas or power generation ops.
• Proficient in mechanical, electrical, and process troubleshooting.
• Experience with instrumentation, process controls, and SCADA.
• Experience mentoring junior technicians preferred.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily RNG processing facility operations, GCCS infrastructure, and pipeline systems.
• Lead landfill gas monitoring and wellfield balancing strategies.
• Optimize system performance by adjusting vacuum, liquids management, and header configurations.
• Oversee well dewatering programs and pump system performance.
• Coordinate infrastructure modifications due to landfill development.
• Work within active landfill fill areas and monitor GCCS performance.
• Coordinate access and protection of gas infrastructure during landfill activities.
• Perform preventive maintenance for mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
• Diagnose faults and calibrate instrumentation and control equipment.
• Lead planning for outages and maintenance with parts, tools, and contractors.
• Mentor RNG Technicians and collaborate with engineering during commissioning and testing.
• Maintain accurate operations and maintenance records and report plant performance.
