Job summary

Apple Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a CAD Electromagnetic RFIC Simulation Engineer to advance EM analysis methodologies for RFIC and multi-die designs.

You will apply Maxwell’s equations with FEM and MoM to build high-accuracy extraction of S-parameters and ensure signal integrity in 3DIC packaging. You will maintain vendor solvers, automate SOC EM CAD flows, and collaborate across Physical-design, Circuit-design, Packaging and Technology groups, while engaging with EDA vendors for tool

Qualifications

  • BS + 10 years of RFIC/EM CAD experience.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Tcl, Python, Perl).
  • Experience with EM extraction, timing, noise and verification.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support state-of-the-art EM solvers (FEM and MoM).

CAD Electromagnetic RFIC Simulation Engineer

As a core member of our best-in-class CAD organization, you will help shape next-generation electromagnetic analysis methodologies for advanced RFIC and multi-die designs. You will apply first-principles understanding of Maxwell’s equations and field theory to develop and validate EM simulation flows using Finite Element and Method of Moments techniques. Your work will involve modeling complex package and interposer structures, enabling high-accuracy extraction of S-parameters, and ensuring robust signal integrity, coupling, and shielding performance across advanced packaging and 3DIC systems. Description

In this highly visible role, your primary responsibilities will include:• Maintain and support state of the art leading vendors Electromagnetic Finite-Element 3D solvers and Method-of-Moments solvers.• Streamline and automate SOC EM analysis CAD flow with ownership of the entire flow.• Support and collaborate with design groups (Physical-design and integration, Circuit-design / Power / Package & System / Technology) on their Electromagnetics requirements for various post layout flows.• Work side by side with EDA vendors and foundries for tool qualification, debug and enhancement.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in EDA Tool, CAD flow and RFIC methodology.
  • Proficiency in at least one of Tcl, Python or Perl scripting languages.
  • Experience in some of the analysis involved in Electromagnetics - extraction, timing, noise, simulation, physical design and/or verification
  • Minimum requirement of BS + 10 years of relevant industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to coordinate and drive initiatives with little to no oversight.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Hands on knowledge of industry leading Electromagnetics tools e.g. HFSS, Clarity, Helic/VeloceRF, EMX, Q3D, VRF, Momentum, ADS or other EM solvers.
  • Experience in development of large scale software in multi-tech, multi user, multi-site environment.
  • Hands on experience with analysis, optimization and debugging of methodology using programming skills in languages like: Perl, Python, TCL, Shell, SKILL, C/C++, etc.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $184,700 and $324,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
