Job summary

Draper, an independent nonprofit R&D company in Cambridge, MA, seeks a Senior/Principal RF Engineer to develop, integrate, test and troubleshoot RF communications and sensor systems. You will mitigate noise, evaluate shielding, ferrites, baluns, and grounding, and work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system performance.

Key tasks include lab bench integration, anechoic chamber testing, antenna characterization, and robust collaboration with software and hardware engineers.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 5–10 years experience in Radio Frequency or Communications Engineering or related field.
• Clearance eligibility is required for US government programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert level system test and troubleshooting using signal generators, vector network analyzers, signal analyzers, E-field and B-field sensors.
• Integration and test of passive LF/HF high power, standard and electrically small antennas and optimization of matching networks.
• Anechoic chamber testing and field testing of electromagnetic propagation, antennas and link performance.
• Lead or support engineering teams in in-house and local field testing; drive noise mitigation and design improvements.
