Job summary

LeoLabs is seeking a Principal Radio Systems Engineer to lead the design and architecture of advanced radar electronics powering next‑gen space-domain awareness tech. You will own system-level hardware designs across programs, guiding from concept to deployment and mentoring teammates.

You’ll collaborate with RF, mechanical, embedded software, and manufacturing teams, traveling regionally to Denver and occasional visits to Menlo Park. This role demands hands‑on leadership and strong RF expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience designing radio systems.
  • Modeling, simulation, and core systems engineering knowledge.
  • RF design fundamentals, noise, timing, signal synthesis/analysis.
  • Hands-on RF hardware development experience.
  • Python-based tooling or automation experience.
  • Eligible for U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate RF system architecture and specifications across programs.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs and guide architectural decisions across hardware.
  • Own radar sensor performance analysis and requirements.
  • Lead RF, mixed-signal, power, control, timing, and digital circuitry design.
  • Define system/sub-system and board-level architectures with peers.
  • Drive design optimization in simulations and in lab deployment.
  • Mentor engineers and conduct design reviews; support manufacturing and field deployment.
