Job summary

Astrion in the United States is seeking a Senior RF Seeker Engineer based in Columbia, Maryland to lead RF seeker design and analytic efforts for DoD programs.

You will work with customers and engineers to deliver simulation solutions, specify sensor architectures, and implement signal processing algorithms.

The role requires a US citizenship, a DoD Secret clearance, a BS in a technical field, 10 years of related experience, and strong MATLAB/Python/C++ skills.

Qualifications

  • Ten years of relevant experience in RF sensor systems, seeker design or analysis, or electronic warfare systems is required.
  • Solid understanding of RF signal processing concepts including apertures, radar waveforms, and electromagnetic propagation is required.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB for modeling, simulation, and data analysis is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to provide technical direction to a small team is required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers and engineers to design and deliver simulation solutions for government clients and stakeholders.
  • Identify and assess critical design considerations such as sensor selection, antenna architecture, and power needs, linking them to seeker design.
  • Design and document the RF sensor concept of operations, including operating modes, timelines, frequencies, PRFs, scan patterns, and waveform choices.
  • Implement signal processing algorithms for detection, tracking, clutter reduction, and electronic protection.
  • Solve highly complex technical challenges with innovative approaches.
  • Determine and execute actions needed to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Lead a small cross-functional team in a technical project lead role.

Requirements

  • We require a Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • We require 10 years of relevant experience in RF sensor systems, seeker design or analysis, or electronic warfare systems.
  • We require a solid understanding of RF signal processing concepts, including apertures, radar waveforms, and electromagnetic propagation.
  • We require proficiency with MATLAB for modeling, simulation, and data analysis.
  • We require strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Preferred: active Top Secret clearance.
  • Preferred: experience developing RF seeker algorithms in missile simulations up to 6 DoF fidelity.
  • Preferred: experience with RF system modeling, performance prediction, and data analysis.
  • Preferred: familiarity with RF seeker hardware, antenna design, or analysis of real-world RF data.
  • Preferred: experience with digital signal processing and/or digital beam forming.
  • Preferred: knowledge of electronic attack and protection methods.
  • Preferred: experience with verification and validation processes in modeling and simulation.
  • Preferred: strong skills in MATLAB, Python, and C++.

We are hiring a Senior RF Seeker Engineer based in Columbia, Maryland, with potential on-site support at customer locations.
