Job summary

TAE Technologies in Southern California seeks an experienced RF engineer to advance plasma heating RF systems for current and next-gen fusion devices. You will work with antennas, matching networks, transmission lines and instrumentation from design through commissioning.

The role involves collaborating with RF physicists to ensure systems meet requirements, with a focus on 50 kW+ power levels, sub-assembly integration, and rapid learning of new RF techniques.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink or other applications used in the modelling of antennas, matching networks and transmission lines.
  • Experience with RF hardware from ~50 kW power levels and greater using solid state or vacuum tube technology
  • Amplitude, frequency and phase control of multiple sources.
  • Ability to present complex RF problems in simple and effective manner.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of the RF Team.
  • Accuracy and the ability to identify and correct shortcomings in proposals and designs.
  • Ability to rapidly gain new knowledge of RF systems and to identify new approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Design RF antennas, matching networks, transmission lines and instrumentation from concept to commissioning.
  • Procurement of component parts and operation of RF systems.
  • Collaborate with RF physicists to ensure systems meet stated requirements.
