Job summary

Fidus is seeking an experienced RF Designer to own complete RF subsystems on client programs, from antenna port to front-end and data converters, up to 40 GHz. You will set RF architecture, budget performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including FPGA, DSP, PCB, and mechanical teams.

You will work with customers directly, design and model hardware before build, and verify performance in the lab with advanced equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years designing RF and wireless hardware.
  • Experience with RF modeling and simulation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Define the RF architecture and frequency plan — IF and LO selection, Nyquist zone/sampling plan, clocking, anti-alias filtering, and line-up specification.
  • Design Tx chains from baseband through up-conversion — drivers, filters, power amplifiers to 10 W, ALC and detector-based output level control.
  • Design Rx chains, including sampling architectures — LNA lineups, down-conversion strategy, AGC, interferer rejection, protection.
  • Model and budget system performance: NF, sensitivity, dynamic range, linearity, EVM, and LO/clock phase noise.
  • Specify and select filters, mixers, circulators, isolators, and hybrids; source parts from vendors.
  • Configure the digital path — RFSoC, DUC/DDC, decimation/interpolation filters, FIR synthesis.
  • Drive RF/microwave PCB layout with SI teams, ensure compliance from outset.
  • Build-in manufacturability features and diagnostic hooks for ATE.
  • Verify/characterize with spectrum analyzers, VNAs, signal generators, power meters.
  • Develop technical estimates and risk strategies; document designs for reviews.
