Indianola Mechanical, based in Des Moines, IA, is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Technician to deliver exceptional customer care and work within a collaborative team.

The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems, performing preventive maintenance, and completing service documentation with clear explanations of guarantees and warranties.

Qualifications

• HVAC residential experience required, 3+ years; 4+ years preferred.
• EPA certification and Journeyman license preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, locate, and diagnose problems in ventilation and air conditioning systems.
• Describe assessment, repair options, and costs to customers in understandable terms.
• Perform preventive maintenance: clean air handling systems, reheat coils, monitor systems, replace filters, motors, fans, belts.
• Assist with comprehensive repairs of complete systems including controls, switches, thermostats, transformers, gauges, wiring, pumps, compressors, condensers, piping.
• Install, repair, replace, or clean refrigerant lines, vents, and related components.
• Ensure all HVAC repairs/installations meet safety standards and codes.
• Complete documentation of services and explain guarantees or warranties to customers.

What You’ll Do:

• Troubleshoot, locate, and diagnose problems in ventilation and air conditioning systems.
• Describe assessment, repair options, and associated costs to customers in terms they can easily understand.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including cleaning air handling systems and reheat coils, monitoring systems, and replacing filters, motors, fans, and belts.
• Assist with comprehensive repairs of complete systems, including controls, switches, thermostats, transformers, gauges, wiring, pumps, compressors, condensers, and piping.
• Install, repair, replace, or clean refrigerant lines, fans, appliance vents, smoke detectors, humidifiers, and grills.
• Ensure all HVAC repairs and installations are accurate, serviceable, and meet safety standards and regulatory codes.
• Complete all required documentation on services, recording details and explaining guarantees or warranties to customers.

What You’ll Bring:

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in residential HVAC services (4+ years preferred).
• HVAC Journeyman License and EPA Certificate preferred.
• Broad experience across all HVAC fields (Residential, Commercial, Geothermal, and Hydronic) preferred.
• Background in sheet metal transition or building adapting preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and strong communication skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50-75 lbs.
• Ability to frequent stoop, kneel and crouch to work in tight spaces.
• Ability to climb and work from ladders.
• Must be able to work in both extreme heat and cold, as well as adverse weather conditions.
