Job description

Are you passionate about working with international students and creating a welcoming home away from home? Join EF Miami Beach as a Senior Residential Advisor and become an important part of our students’ experience in Miami!

This unique live-in role combines traditional Residential Advisor responsibilities with additional leadership and administrative support for the Housing Department. You’ll help create a safe, supportive, and engaging residential community while gaining hands‑on experience in housing operations, student support, and team leadership.

Residential Advisor Duties
  • Student Supervision: Support the daily well‑being, safety, and conduct of students in EF residences, including evening curfew checks for students under 18.
  • Dormitory Management: Conduct regular room checks, document concerns, and coordinate follow‑up with Housing and Maintenance as needed.
  • Student Support: Serve as a resource for students, helping address questions, concerns, conflicts, complaints, and emergencies calmly and professionally.
  • Residential Operations: Assist with student check‑ins and check‑outs, on‑call duties, including overnight emergency phone coverage, and major arrival/departure periods.
  • Community & Leadership: Help create a welcoming and supportive residential environment through positive role modeling and leadership.
  • Communication & Crisis Response: Respond appropriately to residential incidents and emergencies and keep Housing management informed of important student or residence concerns.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and training sessions.
Housing Administrative Support

In addition to Residential Advisor duties, during the off‑summer season (October through approximately mid‑June) the Senior Residential Advisor will support the Housing Department with day‑to‑day administrative and operational tasks, including:

  • Housing Operations: Assist with arrivals and departures, housing records, room allocations, administrative boards, and general office organization.
  • Student Follow‑Up: Support documentation and follow‑up related to housing concerns, student feedback, curfew issues, residential conduct, disciplinary matters, and room checks.
  • Communication & Coordination: Support communication between Housing, Residential Advisors, Security, Maintenance, and other school departments regarding student needs and residential operations.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with reports, documentation, major student intakes, and other Housing Department projects and tasks as needed.
Senior Residential Advisor Leadership

As a senior member of the Residential Advisor team, this role serves as an additional point of support for other RAs and Housing management. Responsibilities may include helping communicate important updates, supporting and guiding newer team members, coordinating residential tasks, and helping maintain strong communication across the team.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in residential life, student services, hospitality, administration, customer service, or a similar environment preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional and calm when handling student concerns or sensitive situations.
  • Detail‑oriented and comfortable balancing multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable with email, spreadsheets, shared documents, record keeping, and general office tasks.
  • Reliable, proactive, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, on‑call shifts, and major arrival/departure periods as needed.
Schedule and Benefits
  • Start Date: Immediate opening available, with a start date as soon as possible following the hiring process.
  • Training: Comprehensive training will be provided during the first weeks to prepare you for both aspects of the position.
  • Work Schedule: This is a part‑time, live‑in position, generally scheduled for approximately 30–35 hours per week. Throughout most of the year, hours will be divided between Residential Advisor shifts and Housing office/administrative support, with the balance varying based on operational needs. Additional hours may be available to cover staff absences, major student intakes, activities, and busy operational periods. Schedules may include daytime hours, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and on‑call responsibilities. Beginning around mid‑June for the summer peak season, the position will transition to being primarily Residential Advisor‑focused, more focused on residential life and residence needs than office/administrative hours. Summer schedules will generally remain around 30–35 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing to approximately 40 hours per week depending on occupancy and operational needs.
  • Compensation: $15.50 per hour, plus full room and board, including accommodation, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Professional Experience: Gain valuable hands‑on experience in student support, housing operations, administration, leadership, crisis management, and intercultural communication while working with students from around the world.
About Us

Some companies are in the business of banking. Others are in the business of shoes. Or sports. Or soft drinks. At EF, we’re in a different kind of business. Between cultures.

For over half a century we’ve been the leader in international educational programs and experiences designed to foster such understanding. Through language, cultural exchange, academic studies, and educational travel, we create the kinds of immersive experiences that challenge biases, open minds, and pave the way for a more understanding world.

You’ll find our offices and schools located in some of the world’s greatest cities, and filled with smart, driven people (over 50,000 of us) who push each other to be better every day.
