Job summary

AECOM's Transportation Business Line seeks a Senior Resident Engineer in Chicago, IL to lead field staff on major transit and rail projects, ensuring design, budget and schedule adherence while maintaining safety and quality.

Requirements include a BA/BS with 8+ years of experience (or equivalent); preferred PE in Illinois, OSHA 10/30, and strong client interface. Travel and onboarding at a local office are expected.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical direction and guidance to staff and subordinate engineers/inspectors, enforces company and project policies, maintains close client interface, and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
  • Supervises field staff, coordinates field activities, and provides project progress reports to the Client and AECOM Department Manager.
  • Prepares and manages quality and safety plans for the project.
  • Work with the Department Manager on development and execution of significant project pursuits and delivery.
  • Assist the Department Manager to formulate and execute project opportunity capture strategies, including teaming and positioning for major pursuits, helping in proposal efforts and identification of required staff resources to win and effectively deliver projects.
  • Establish relationships with external clients and customers, including industry associations and other potential consultant team members and construction contractors.
  • Be a visible leader and trusted advisor to clients by promoting AECOM's values both internally and externally.

Job Description

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Resident Engineer for immediate employment in Chicago, IL. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in the Construction Engineering and Management industry and have a proven track record of major successful projects for transit and rail projects.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid Driver's License require
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 Certificates
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois is preferred.
  • 10 + years of resident engineering experience managing transit/rail construction projects
  • Experience in client prepositioning activities, team (internal and external partners) and proposal development
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

To support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $135000 to $185000.
