Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time Senior Resident Engineer/Construction Manager for our Denver, CO office (other locations: Boulder, CO; Colorado Springs; Lakewood). The role covers pre-construction and construction phases with responsibilities spanning cost estimating, bid package prep, coordination with design teams, and on-site supervision.

The ideal candidate will hold a CO PE or be able to obtain it within 6 months, have 7+ years of construction experience, and excel in contract comprehension,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of CO or ability to obtain it within 6 months.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant construction experience.
  • Ability to read and fully understand contract documents.
  • Deep understanding of construction practices, building codes, and project delivery methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in construction management, preferably with a focus on owner representation.
  • Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct constructability reviews of design documents.
  • Provide cost estimating and budget development.
  • Help with bid package preparation and contractor selection.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other consultants.
  • Schedule and coordinate pre-construction and partnering meetings.
  • Monitor project progress against schedule and budget.
  • Identify and manage potential risks.
  • Review change orders and recommend approvals.
  • Oversee quality control and safety compliance.
  • Review project activities with client and contractor field supervision, resolving disputes and daily issues.
  • Oversee materials testing activities.
  • Review daily inspection reports and other project documentation.
  • Facilitate communication between owner, design team, and contractors.
  • Conduct regular site visits and progress meetings.
  • Analyze project data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide recommendations for project adjustments as needed.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full‑Time Senior Resident Engineer/Construction Manager for our Denver office. Other locations include Boulder, Colorado Springs and Lakewood.

Responsibilities
Pre‑construction Phase
  • Conduct constructability reviews of design documents

Compensation

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $110,700 – $164,450. Compensation range is provided in good faith based on education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, and may vary.

WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and compensation, within the bounds of equality law.
