Job description

Mace, a joint venture partner of MPA, has been selected as the Gateway Development Commission partner of choice to support the Hudson Tunnel Project, a major rail infrastructure investment in New York and the Northeast Corridor.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily field engineering operations, including layout, surveys, instrumentation, and alignment checks.
  • Interpret and enforce contract drawings, specifications, and technical provisions; review and approve contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
  • Lead resolution of Nonconformance Reports (NCRs); verify corrective actions and update as‑built records.
  • Collaborate with Change Manager to evaluate field‑level change requests, assess impacts on scope, cost, schedule, and regulatory commitments.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to confirm compliance with the Construction Environmental Control Plan (CECP), Safety and Security Management Plan (SSMP), and Quality Management Plan (QMP).
  • Coordinate materials testing and inspection activities, witness field tests, and liaise with independent laboratories to validate results.
  • Oversee interface coordination on site—facilitate clash mitigation, schedule sequencing, and stakeholder communication.
  • Mentor and supervise field engineering staff, inspectors, and survey teams; ensure accurate documentation of daily logs, checklists, and field diaries.
  • Support commissioning and rail activation planning by verifying field readiness, system alignments, and testing protocols.
  • Drive punch‑list close‑out: confirm completion of outstanding items, secure completion certificates, and finalize handover documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of field engineering or construction supervision experience on large‑scale tunneling, rail, or heavy civil projects.
  • 5+ years in a senior resident engineer or equivalent role.
  • Deep understanding of NEPA, FTA, FRA, Buy America, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Proven expertise with PMIS platforms, BIM coordination, and field survey instruments.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or NICET Level III/IV in relevant disciplines.
  • OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Safety Certification.
  • Strong leadership and team management; ability to mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent communication for interfacing with contractors, DP teams, GDC, and SEP.
  • Rigorous attention to detail in record‑keeping, reporting, and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/Navisworks clash detection, and scheduling tools (Primavera P6/MS Project).

Estimated starting salary for this position is $200,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non‑discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
