Job summary

The University of Chicago’s Gastroenterology department seeks a Senior Research Technician to support microbiome research. You will operate LC/MS instruments, prep samples, and assist with DNA/RNA extractions and sequencing workflows in a collaborative lab.

You will manage sample preparation, data analysis, and cross-team communication, while maintaining thorough records and contributing to project design and execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• 2–5 years of relevant work experience required.
• Preference for experience with LC/MS and metagenomic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Process samples and run LC/MS (Agilent 6400 Series) for functional analysis.
• Coordinate with scientists to design and implement LC/TQ-based experiments.
• Analyze data and prepare reports from LC/TQ runs.
• Prepare DNA libraries for metagenomic sequencing and coordinate downstream processing.
• Maintain lab notebooks and assist with record keeping in LIMS.
