Job summary

Howard University is seeking Senior Research Scientists to work on an ONR-supported research project led by Dr. Gloria Washington.

The focus is on human-centered AI with ethical and responsible use, adaptable to a human-in-the-loop, and capable of augmenting human capabilities. The positions offer opportunities to work on related projects in human-centered AI and are fully funded for up to five years, with a potential transition to tenure-track around the two-and-a-half-year milestone.

Qualifications

• PhD in CS or related field required.
• Evidence of scholarly activity or potential is required.
• Experience in human-centered AI research preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of educational curriculum for human-centered AI.
• Collaborate with project collaborators on research outputs and dissemination.
• Support grant writing, publishing, and teaching one course per academic year if desired.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to educational equity.
