Job description

About The Role & Team

I DC is looking for a Senior Research Manager to oversee IDC’s memory research. As part of the Computer Infrastructure research subdomain, the analyst will lead IDC’s research on memory supply, demand, and adoption. The analyst will engage with vendors, providers, regulatory bodies, end users, and other IDC analysts to ensure the narrative on memory is well-rounded, qualitatively, and quantitatively.

What You’ll Do

Serve as the lead analyst for IDC's global memory coverage. Core research spans DRAM and NAND memory, including demand and supply analysis and memory consumption across infrastructure, consumer, and embedded platforms and systems. Develop and deliver rich insights on the industry (key vendor, product, and technology trends) and the market (key adoption trends). Provide insights into the industry's demand and supply dynamics, chip pricing, competitors, and fab capacity. Analyze memory‑centric technologies such as PCIe and USB, memory-bound workloads, next‑generation memory, and emerging memory markets such as AI. Develop market models for various memory types (which will feed into IDC’s data products). Collaborate with infrastructure and device analysts to encompass insights into a bigger picture on computing platforms, systems, and services. Convey research and insights to IDC’s clients, including financial services clients.

What You Bring
  • Required Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related field
  • 7-10 years of direct vendor experience in the IT infrastructure industry.
  • Strong quantitative and/or modeling skills (working with a database is a bonus)
  • Problem solving and communications skills
  • Percentage of travel required ~35%
  • Hybrid work model (proximity to a major airport)
