Job summary

FUJIFILM Electronic Materials, U.S.A., Inc. in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Senior Research Chemist to design, develop and commercialize new post-etch cleaners and selective etchants for advanced IC technologies.

You will serve as the technical owner for metrology instrumentation in the formulated products lab (SEM, STEM, XRR, XPS, ellipsometry, 4PP), perform lab-scale formulation and testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements and timelines.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry with 0–2 years of industry research experience in formulation for semiconductor tech.
  • Experience applying inorganic or organic solution chemistry to meet customer requirements and safety with hazardous chemicals.
  • Understanding of Si wafer device processing in wet processing tool operation and process implementation.
  • Experience with thin film surface analysis tools (Ellipsometer, 4-Point probe, XRR, XPS, TOF-SIMS, SEM).
  • Strong comprehension of surface cleaning methods and associated chemicals.
  • Proficiency in design of experiments, technical writing, literature search, and IP processes; good teamwork and communication.
  • This is a safety-sensitive role requiring post-offer drug screening; ability to work safely in a lab environment.

The Role

The Senior Research Chemist will be responsible for design, develop and commercialization of new semiconductor etchants, post etch selective cleaners and strippers for advanced technology.

Job Description


Key responsibilities for this role include:


  • Responsible for applied research & development and commercialization of new post etch cleaners and selective etchants for advanced IC technologies.

  • Responsible for becoming the technical expert and primary owner/operator for the different metrology instrumentation within the formulated products lab. This instrumentation currently includes SEM, STEM, EDAX, XRR, ellipsometry, and 4PP and will also be for future metrology instrumentation.

  • Designing, lab testing, and managing new chemical products under rigorous business and customer timelines. Time spent on the different lab activities during the week will be prioritized by the Product Development Manager based on business needs.



Specific activities include:


  • Primary technical owner and operator for surface analysis tools including Ellipsometer, 4-Point probe, XRR, XPS, SEM, EDAX & STEM.

  • Investigate and develop new chemical formulations for cleaning integrated circuit wafers with awareness of the status of the intellectual property field.

  • Perform wet bench formulation and testing of new chemicals to meet customer requirements.

  • Manage existing product testing and qualification using customer wafers.

  • Assist with IP searches and initial patent drafts.

  • Assist in pilot line builds of successful beaker formulations.

  • Generating and communicating product data and technical reports internally and to customers



REQUIREMENTS


  • PhD in Chemistry with 0 to 2 years of experience in formulation. Prior industrial research experience in product development in semiconductor technology is highly preferred.

  • Experience in developing and applying inorganic or organic solution chemistry to meeting customer requirements. Must be comfortable working safely with hazardous chemicals.

  • Understanding Si wafer device processing in wet processing tool operation and process implementation.

  • Experience with thin film surface analysis tools such as Ellipsometer, 4-Point probe, XRR, XPS, TOF_SIMS, SEM

  • Must have a strong comprehension of surface cleaning methods and chemicals.

  • Must be proficient in design of experiments, technical writing, literature search processes and methods and Intellectual property processes and methods.

  • Must be a team player and collaborator. Must be able to communicate and work effectively with peers and customers. Organizational skills and prior project management experience desired.

  • This is a safety-sensitive position that requires candidates to successfully pass a post-offer drug screening prior to employment. One of the essential job functions is the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
