Job summary

Azalea Therapeutics seeks a Senior Research Associate – Platform/R&D to advance molecular biology and analytical workflows, with emphasis on PCR-based assays, ddPCR, cloning, and NGS-adjacent analysis. The role supports research-grade analytics, faster turnaround, and lab capability redundancy, reporting to a Scientist II.

The ideal candidate is organized, technically strong, and able to work independently in a fast-paced startup. Onsite in Berkeley, five days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or related life sciences discipline.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute molecular biology assays, including PCR-based workflows and ddPCR.
• Run and adapt existing software/pipelines to analyze NGS data.
• Perform routine cloning workflows (Gibson, Golden Gate, restriction enzyme) and plasmid prep.
• Perform cell culture and lentiviral vector production.
• Process samples from cell- and tissue-based workflows and communicate results to teams.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to prioritize samples and troubleshoot workflows.
• Maintain detailed records and SOPs; contribute to lab process improvements.
