Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a staff-level reliability engineer to oversee reliability for NTI/NPI leading to mass production on advanced CMOS nodes. You will collaborate with internal teams, Korea HQ, external customers, and Fab to drive reliability across the product lifecycle.

The role includes leading reliability evaluations, experiments, and data analysis, applying reliability models, and contributing to knowledge exchange at conferences and within Samsung's innovation ecosystem.

Qualifications

• MS, PhD in Engineering or Physics (preferred Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering).
• Requires 5+ years of related experience in Semiconductor process, product or device engineering.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to direct a team for reliability improvement activities.
• Identify, plan, and execute reliability evaluations for NTI/NPI, technology qualification, process changes and abnormal events.
• Identify concerning items for product reliability and drive improvement actions with local and overseas operations.
• Manage solutions to integration problems across Fab, PIE, Device, Product Test, etc., to improve reliability.
• Design, execute, and analyze designed experiments to improve semiconductor fabrication processes.
• Utilise statistical tools and reliability models to extract lifetime from time-to-fail data.
• Represent Samsung technology leadership by authoring papers for symposiums & journals and leadership roles at external conferences.

Position Summary

Staff-level reliability engineer will care semiconductor reliability of at Samsung Foundry’s new technology introduction (NTI)/new product introduction (NPI). The individual will collaborate with internal teams, Korea HQ teams, external customer(s), and Fab. seamlessly from NTI/NPI to mass production. This reliability engineer will drive all phases of reliability engineering for advanced CMOS technology nodes with manager’s help.

Role And Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Provide technical leadership to direct a team for reliability improvement activities.
• Identify, plan, and execute reliability evaluations for NTI/NPI, technology qualification, process changes and abnormal events. Identify concerning items for product reliability and drive improvement actions with both local and overseas operations.
• Manage solutions to integration problems working across several departments (Fab, PIE, Device, Product Test, etc) to improve reliability.
• Design, execute, and analyze designed experiments to improve semiconductor fabrication processes.
• Utilise lessons learned to improve reliability margin; define new process integration for new technology nodes.
• Utilise statistical tools and reliability models to extract lifetime from time to fail data.
• Represent Samsung technology leadership by authoring papers for symposiums & journals and leadership roles at external conferences.
• Navigate both the industrial and academic landscape in order to be a knowledge center of device integration and technology development for reliability.
• Plus for strong understanding of Semiconductor Device Physics or Reliability Degradation Mechanisms.
• Example of Reliability Degradation Mechanisms: TDDB, HCI, BTI, EM, SM, TC.

Skills And Qualifications

Here’s what you'll need:

• MS, PhD in Engineering or Physics (preferred Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering)

The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000- $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
