Job summary

Fifth Third Bank seeks an experienced Retirement Plan Consultant to serve as the primary liaison for national and regional institutional retirement plan clients. You will provide regulatory and legislative updates, advise on plan design and fiduciary considerations, and help manage scope with internal service teams.

Job description

  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned national and regional institutional retirement plan clients
  • Provide industry, regulatory, and legislative updates affecting client plans
  • Advise on plan design, compliance, and service-provider product developments
  • Maintain and retain an assigned book of business using fiduciary oversight best practices
  • Coordinate employee education campaigns with client service providers
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities for benefit plan consulting, investment management, and custody services
  • Represent Fifth Third Bank in civic, government, community, charitable, banking, and professional groups
  • Support RFPs, benchmarking, fund lineup recommendations, and finalist presentations
  • Review client plan features and demographics and recommend suitable retirement-plan actions
  • Document client interactions in the CRM system
  • Manage client documentation, pricing, profitability, and fee structures
  • Conduct annual fiduciary training for plan committee members
  • Review, approve, and monitor fee invoices
  • Lead or participate in special and cross-functional projects and support product rollouts
  • Complete required annual continuing education and administrative file reviews
  • Ensure compliance and documentation requirements for new accounts and asset acceptances
  • Build relationships with recordkeeping vendors and support client access to plan data
  • Meet with clients virtually, in person, or in a hybrid approach at least annually
  • Review plan health reports, update clients on regulatory matters, and prepare draft committee minutes
  • Drive client engagement through experience data and feedback
  • Partner with internal teams to improve client satisfaction, profitability, and operational efficiency
  • Provide onboarding support, coaching, and mentoring to new Retirement Plan Consultants
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree; Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration preferred
  • Ten years of relevant experience working with ERISA plans
  • ASPPA certification required, including 401(k) Administrator (QKA) and Qualified 401(k) Consultant (QKC)
  • Proven ability to handle large and complex retirement plan client relationships
  • Experience identifying and resolving plan design and compliance issues
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Superior presentation skills in client and sales situations
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills
  • Proven experience leading large strategic projects from start to finish
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Periodic travel may be required, including overnight and long-distance travel
