Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead refrigeration design teams on Food & Beverage, Life Sciences, and Industrial Manufacturing projects across the U.S. You will guide design through from concept to construction, coordinate with vendors and clients, and drive delivery within budget and schedule.

You will mentor junior engineers, ensure QA/QC adherence, and support business development with technical leadership and client relationships. Some travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program; Master's preferred with EPC project experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong technical writing.
• Experience leading discipline design for large projects and delegating tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical (refrigeration) design for projects from concept to design completion across multiple markets.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients, and other disciplines.
• Provide field support, commissioning, and startup assistance on critical equipment.
• Develop project scope, budget, schedule, and changes; mentor junior engineers.
