UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX seeks a Senior Refractive Tech to perform diagnostic testing, assist in surgeries and provide ophthalmic patient care under supervision.

The role involves taking patient history, pre- and post-operative instructions, laser calibration, intra-operative support, and accurate data entry while maintaining safety standards. A minimum of 3 years as a keratorefractive technician and related certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in related field (required).
• 3 years of experience as a keratorefractive technician (preferred).
• Relevant ophthalmic certifications on hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists Refractive Practice Manager in setting priorities, tasks, and responsibilities.
• Serves as lead or may supervise other refractive technicians.
• Mentors, trains, and coaches other laser center staff on refractive equipment and practices.
• Acquires complete patient history.
• Acquires and records visual functions including acuity and other measurements.
• Prepares and escorts patients into surgery suite and post-op area.
• Reviews LASIK procedures with patients and follows up.
• Enters patient data into Laser system.
• Calibrates laser or Intralase on surgery days.
• Performs intra-operative pachymetry and acts as surgery circulator.
• Sets up sterile field and instruments; cleans and autoclaves equipment.
• Maintains inventory, supplies, and medications; places orders timely.
