Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Software Engineer based in Gaithersburg, MD; Eagan, MN; or Egg Harbor, NJ to support UK NASR PDT. You will build and sustain real-time, high-availability, safety-critical software for national airspace operations.

The role requires a 4–8 year C/C++ background, ability to obtain Public Trust clearance, and a strong grasp of Linux environments, VMs, and hardware interfaces. Expect a 50% hybrid schedule with 2–3 days in the office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 4–8 years of experience or Master's with 2–6 years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Strong object-oriented programming experience.
• Experience with real-time, multi-threaded, high-availability systems.
• Experience with Linux environments (Red Hat), VMs and hypervisors.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP, UDP, SCTP and low‑level communications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software for real-time, high-availability systems.
• Lead software development activities independently and in teams.
• Analyze complex requirements and translate into efficient designs.
• Apply software engineering principles for reliable, maintainable code.
• Mentor junior developers and influence technical direction.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning.
• Develop and deploy automation scripts across environments.
• Promote code reuse and cross-program collaboration.
• Support system integration including hardware interfaces.
