Job summary

Hayden AI in San Francisco seeks a Senior State Estimation Engineer to derive and implement real-time pose estimation algorithms for large-scale mapping. You will research, develop, and deploy solutions that fuse GPS, IMU, camera, and wheel odometry across multiple sensors to power our perception stack.

You will collaborate with ML, hardware, and cloud teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to end-to-end system improvements from data collection to real-time inference.

Qualifications

• Master of Science degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Five (5)+ years of experience as a software engineer or state estimation engineer.
• Five (5) years of experience with C++, software design, ML, linear algebra and optimization methods.
• Experience deploying SLAM/VIO estimators in real-world applications.
• Experience working with multiple sensors (GPS, IMU, camera, LIDAR, wheel odometry).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to high impact projects across teams.
• Program and develop software in C++ and/or Python.
• Derive and implement real-time pose estimation algorithms.
• Research and implement algorithms for large-scale mapping and sensor calibration.
• Collaborate with deep learning, device, and cloud teams to improve system architectures.
