Job summary

Hopper is hiring a senior full stack engineer to own the realtime and voice layer end to end. You will work across React/TypeScript front ends, Scala and Python services, and cloud infrastructure on GCP/AWS.

The role emphasizes multi-tenant design, safety and compliance plumbing, and world-class observability. The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of production-systems ownership, hands-on realtime experience, and strong communication across product and ops.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• Hands-on realtime systems experience such as voice apps, WebRTC/SIP, or low-latency products.
• Strong frontend in React/TypeScript and backend in Scala or Python.
• Cloud infrastructure experience on GCP or AWS; RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools and responsible shipping practices.
• Operable-systems mindset: SLAs, observability, on-call, rollback plans.

Responsibilities

• Own the voice channel end to end, including telephony and CPaaS integrations (Twilio, Amazon Connect).
• Build features across the stack: React/TypeScript front ends, Scala/Python services, and GCP/AWS infrastructure.
• Design for multi-tenant scale with configuration-based customization for partners.
• Develop safety, auditing, and PII redaction integrations for enterprise partners.
• Maintain platform health with observability, alerts, incidents, and SLAs.
