Job summary

Lockwood & Swalm in Atlanta, GA seeks a Senior Accountant – Real Estate Development to manage accounting for development projects and property management engagements, including financial reporting, draw preparation, budgeting, and compliance.

You will perform GAAP-compliant reporting, track land, construction, and financing costs, and collaborate with project teams and external stakeholders. Proficiency in Yardi and advanced Excel is required to support financial analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years accounting experience, including at least 2 years in real estate development or property accounting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting for real estate development projects with GAAP compliance.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate investments.
• Track project costs across land, construction, soft costs, and financing.
• Maintain and reconcile real estate GL accounts.
• Manage cash flow projections and funding requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers and external stakeholders for accurate reporting.
• Assist in tax filings, audits, and regulatory compliance for real estate investments.
• Evaluate internal controls to improve processes and reduce risk.
• Support ad-hoc financial analysis as needed.
