Job summary

Skydio, the leading US drone company, is seeking a Senior React Native Engineer to shape our real-time mobile apps used by first responders, pilots, and public users. You’ll decide cross-platform architecture and own features from prototype to rollout, balancing performance and reliability in high-pressure environments.

You’ll collaborate with autonomy and cloud teams, optimize native vs. TS, and push what’s possible in edge computing for mission-critical video and telemetry.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and shipping customer-facing mobile apps with deep React Native experience.
• Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, and GraphQL.
• Proficient in Swift and/or Kotlin with native module experience.
• Ability to design scalable systems for performance, reliability, and usability.
• Experience building real-time, data-intensive features and integrating with external APIs and services.
• Strong product intuition and empathy for end users in high-stakes environments.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating across teams to ship complex features.
• Comfort with ambiguity and bias toward action.
• FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days is encouraged for most roles.

Responsibilities

• Innovate on UI/UX for Skydio's cross-platform mobile app.
• Build video- and map-based experiences for pilots and public users.
• Improve app performance with native code vs TypeScript and native modules.
• Define shared patterns: components, navigation, testing, CI/CD, performance budgets.
• Own features end to end from prototype to customer rollout with observability.
• Enable first responders to run complex multi-drone operations.
• Collaborate with autonomy and cloud teams, iterating on field feedback.
