Job summary

Civil Works Contracting in Central/Southeast United States is seeking an experienced Railroad Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on railroad construction and maintenance projects. This role focuses on safe, efficient, and successful project execution, supervising field personnel, planning and scheduling work, coordinating with management and customers, and ensuring quality and compliance. Travel is extensive and a strong safety culture is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of railroad construction experience in a supervisory or field leadership role.
• Knowledge of FRA Track Safety Standards and Roadway Worker Protection requirements.
• Ability to plan work in advance and coordinate resources to maintain production and schedule.
• Strong leadership and the ability to train, develop, motivate, and hold field personnel accountable.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans, railroad standard plans, and project-specific requirements.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day field operations for railroad projects, overseeing safety, quality, production, schedule, and manpower.
• Plan project execution with Project Manager, develop means and methods, and safety plans.
• Review plans, specs, contracts to ensure field work meets requirements.
• Develop short-term work plans and look-ahead schedules for resources.
• Lead field crews of 10–25 employees including foremen and laborers.
• Maintain field documentation and communicate with owners, inspectors, and customers.
