Marsoft Inc. seeks a Senior Market Analyst (Rail) to build coverage of rail freight markets, developing supply, demand and capacity models, and forecasting volumes, rates and asset values for clients including shippers, operators, lenders and investors.

You will track industry trends, defend assumptions with data, and present findings at industry events while collaborating with product and software teams to deliver rail data insights.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of rail, freight transportation, or logistics market analysis.
• Strong quantitative skills and experience building forecasting or econometric models.
• Clear writing for professional audiences.
• Willingness to defend assumptions, and to change views when the data says so.
• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Transportation, Engineering, Finance, or a related quantitative field; a Master's degree is a plus.
• Familiarity with industry traffic data, carload reports, or rail equipment fleet data.
• Experience presenting to lenders, investors, or senior clients.

Responsabilités

• Build supply, demand, and capacity models for rail freight, from commodity flows and volumes to network capacity and equipment fleets.
• Produce Base, High, and Low Case forecasts for volumes, rates, and asset values where data allows.
• Track the commodities, industrial activity, and policy drivers that move rail freight, and how rail competes with truck and short-sea shipping.
• Reconcile forecasts with reported traffic, rates, and transactions, and explain revisions to clients.
• Write market reports and client briefings with clear, defensible conclusions.
• Work with our product and software teams to bring rail data and analysis to clients.
• Present findings to clients and at industry events, and mentor junior analysts as the team grows.
