RF Electrical Engineer | Aerospace & Defense
About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Radio Frequency (RF) Electrical Engineer to join an engineering team developing next-generation airborne communication, surveillance, and avionics systems. This RF Engineer position offers the opportunity to work across the complete product lifecycle—from concept and architecture through certification, production, and ongoing product support.
The ideal candidate for this Radio Frequency Electrical Engineer has a strong background in RF hardware design, analog and digital circuit development, EMI/EMC mitigation, and laboratory validation of high-reliability electronic systems.
*NOTE: This RF Engineer opportunity is a fully in-office position, so any candidate who is interested, please be cognizant that this is a five day per week on-site position located in Chester County, PA near the Frazer area.*
Responsibilities:
- Design, analyze, simulate, and validate analog and digital RF circuits, including:
- RF front ends
- Filters
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams including systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and certification.
- Perform hands-on circuit board bring-up, RF tuning, debugging, troubleshooting, and validation.
- Utilize laboratory equipment such as:
- Spectrum analyzers
- Network analyzers
- Signal generators
- Support hardware development throughout the full product lifecycle, including:
- Detailed design
- Verification
- Qualification
- Certification
- Production
- Design robust RF solutions capable of operating in demanding electromagnetic environments.
- Develop and evaluate EMI/EMC mitigation strategies including:
- Shielding
- Grounding
- Filtering
- Support environmental qualification, EMI/EMC testing, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
- Produce engineering documentation including schematics, design analyses, test procedures, and technical reports.
- Contribute to continuous product improvement initiatives and new technology development.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 4+ years of experience designing RF electronic hardware.
- Strong experience with analog and digital RF circuit design.
- Solid understanding of:
- Impedance matching
- Gain
- Frequency synthesis
- Signal integrity
- Experience designing, testing, and evaluating EMI/EMC compliant, high-reliability electronic systems and airborne equipment.
- Experience with PCB schematic capture and layout tools such as:
- P-CAD
- Or equivalent
- Strong board-level troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Experience selecting and evaluating RF components based on performance, lifecycle, and availability.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using RF simulation tools such as:
- ADS
- HFSS
- SPICE
- VHDL programming experience.
- Familiarity with high-speed digital interfaces and RF signal processing.
- Knowledge of IPC design standards.
- Experience with component derating methodologies.
- Prior experience developing avionics, aerospace, defense, or other mission-critical electronic systems.
