Job summary

UCI Health seeks a qualified Radiation Therapist to coordinate daily patient activities in the Radiation Oncology department. You will schedule and perform port films, review results with physicians, and adjust treatment techniques as needed while maintaining accurate records and equipment performance.

The role requires ARRT/CRT certification, at least one year in the field, and strong English communication. On-call rotations and varied shifts including weekends are expected.

Qualifications

• Must possess ARRT/CRT in Radiation Therapy.
• Minimum of one year experience as a Radiation Therapist.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to work on-call rotations and variable shifts including weekends/holidays.
• Demonstrated knowledge of radiation oncology procedures, physics, radiobiology, and anatomy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily patient activities in Radiation Oncology.
• Schedule and take port films on all patients; review results with physicians.
• Document findings and make corrections; adjust techniques as needed.
• Maintain and operate radiographic equipment and quality control systems.

Your Role on the Team

Position Summary

Incumbent is responsible for the coordination of daily patient activities in Radiation Oncology. Schedules and takes port films on all patients, reviews results with physicians, documents findings and makes necessary corrections. Responsible for changing technique factor due to patient's size and condition. Responsible for the maintenance and operation of radiographic equipment, including automatic film processors and quality control equipment. Maintains films and medical records, including purging of files. Carries out and records orders as required by physician prescriptions.

Required Qualifications

What It Takes to be Successful

• Proven ability to safely and accurately operate radiation therapy equipment, linear accelerators, simulators and computers
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must possess ARRT/CRT in Radiation Therapy
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Demonstrated knowledge of radiation oncology procedures, radiation physics, radiobiology, radiation protection, anatomy and positioning
• Current BLS certification
• Ability to work "on-call" rotation
• Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
• Ability to safely and accurately operate the radiation therapy equipment, linear accelerators, simulators and computers
• Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
• A minimum of one year experience working as a Radiation Therapist

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
• Experience in computer informatics/networking associated with radiation oncology practices
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese
