Job summary

Adventist Health Glendale is seeking an experienced Radiation Therapist to support dosimetric calculations, treatment planning, QA, and data entry in the Radiation Oncology department. You will deliver prescribed therapy under the Radiation Oncologist's direction and help mentor staff.

The role requires ARRT-T and TRT certifications, with CPR/BLS as preferred; a Bachelor's (preferred) or Master’s in radiation oncology, and at least three years of experience in radiation therapy are desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in radiation oncology or equivalent; preferred.
• Master's Degree; preferred.
• Three years' radiation therapy experience; preferred.
• ARRT-Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T): Required
• Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certification (TRT): Required
• CPR/BLS certification: Preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required

Responsibilities

• Delivers the prescribed course of radiation therapy by checking prescription, diagnosis chart, and patient identification.
• Explains procedures to patient, communicates during treatment, and administers the prescribed daily dose.
• Transfers patient to treatment couch and prepares room/equipment as per prescription.
• Monitors patients for unusual reactions and complications, reporting to supervisor and physician.
• Maintains daily treatment records and patient charts to ensure accuracy.
• Provides supervision and trains students on procedures.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Assists with dosimetric calculations, treatment planning, quality assurance and data input into system. Provides radiation in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. Assists the department director in the day-to-day operations of the department. Serves as technical specialist on daily tasks and cases. Models/mentors and trains staff on technical skills.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in radiation oncology or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Preferred
• Master's Degree: Preferred
• Three years' radiation therapy experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy (AART-T) and Certification of Therapeutic Radiology Technology (RTT): Required
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred
• ARRT-Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T): Required
• Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certification (TRT): Required

Department Specific License/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Essential Functions

• Delivers the prescribed course of radiation therapy by checking prescription, diagnosis chart, and patient identification. Explains procedures to patient, means of communication during treatment, and basic treatment procedure. Delivers prescribed daily dose to patient, observing radiation safety measures for patient and personnel.
• Prepares room and equipment for patient according to prescription or simulation regarding immobilization devices, etc., transfers patient to treatment couch, giving attention to the special needs of the patient.
• Observes patients for unusual reactions and for signs and symptoms of developing complications during treatment, reporting reactions and complications to supervisor and department physician
• Maintains a variety of records, including, records of daily treatment; maintains and regularly reviews patient charts to eliminate errors and to ensure that blood counts and special reports are properly recorded.
• Provides clinical supervision and evaluates students' practical ability to perform procedures.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
