Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Senior Technical Project Manager to lead FOAK HTS magnet system projects from concept to prototype through ramp-up. The role drives a portfolio of R&D efforts, coordinating engineers, designers, analysts, and procurement to deliver on strategic targets.

You will liaise with the executive team and suppliers, manage scope, schedule, budget, and risk, and ensure staffing with the right skills for execution. PMP or equivalent certification is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with a PMP or similar cert.
• 10+ years of technical experience with 5+ years as a PM leading new product integration.
• Experience acting as a technical liaison with the executive team and external suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of small to mid-sized R&D projects with best-practices guidance.
• Serve as primary technical liaison with executive team and internal/external teams.
• Balance research objectives with operational needs, including manufacturability and materials.
• Staff projects with appropriate skills and throughput to meet commitments.
• Develop comprehensive project plans with scope, goals, deliverables, and timelines.
• Lead cross-functional matrix teams of engineers, designers, analysts, and procurement.
• Foster collaboration and high-performance culture to drive execution.
• Monitor timelines, identify delays, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Lead risk management and communicate progress to stakeholders.
