Henkel is offering an Industrial Design Intern position for Summer/Fall 2027 in Trumbull, CT, within Consumer Brands – Research & Development.

You’ll help lead pilot plant operations, translate learnings into production requirements, and support new product launches with cross-functional partners. A technical bachelor’s degree is preferred and hands-on mechanical skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline required; Chemical Engineering preferred.
• 3–5 years’ experience in manufacturing, R&D, or pilot plants; knowledge of liquid-process scale-up and SPC.
• Develop experimental protocols and lead pilot plant and select full-scale trials across the supply chain.
• Hands-on mechanical expertise in equipment setup, maintenance, and waste management.
• Recommend equipment and process improvements to meet safety, quality, production, cost goals.
• Collaborative, positive attitude with eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

What you´ll do

• Lead best-in-class pilot plant operations and produce diverse product forms for technical and consumer testing.
• Translate pilot learning into production equipment requirements, partnering with plant technical teams to support investment planning, project timelines, and robust process design.
• Support innovation and new product launches by partnering with cross-functional leaders to confirm technical capability and readiness.
• Lead production scale-up, on-site process validation, and technology transfer to sustain process performance.
• Communicate clear, data-based recommendations to management to support timely decisions.
• Identify continuous improvement and optimization opportunities, develop models to explain and predict process performance, and interpret data to guide actions.

What makes you a good fit

• Education: Bachelor’s degree required in a technical discipline; Chemical Engineering preferred.
• Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing, R+D, or pilot plant environments preferred, with demonstrated knowledge of liquid-process scale-up, statistical process control, and basic engineering principles.
• Develop experimental protocols and lead pilot plant and selected full-scale trials across the Henkel Consumer Brands supply chain network.
• Apply hands‑on mechanical expertise to equipment setup and maintenance, chemical and waste management, and product preparation for consumer studies, sales samples, and OTC stability batches.
• Recommend equipment and process improvements to meet safety, quality, production, cost, and BCT objectives.
• Bring a collaborative, positive approach, and enthusiasm for learning.
