Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Senior/Principal R&D Physicist to advance optical phenomenology and explosive sciences in an onsite role. The position involves leading research, developing physics-based models, and contributing to sensor concepts for national security applications.

The role requires a PhD-equivalent track with a Bachelor's plus 5 years experience, ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance, and strong collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience or equivalent.
• Ability to attain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform research and development focused on phenomenological understanding to sensor/modeling concept development, design, and analysis.
• Execute end-to-end simulations for evaluating sensor utility and supporting future sensor designs.
• Document results in high-quality presentations and reports and present them to collaborators and customers.
