Job summary

DEKA Research & Development seeks an experienced Senior R&D Manufacturing Engineer to transform innovative medical device concepts into scalable, regulatory-compliant manufacturing solutions. You will bridge R&D, design, quality, and supply chain to ensure manufacturability meets safety, reliability, and performance standards.

You will lead DFM reviews, GD&T assessments, and guide new products from prototyping to full-scale production with external manufacturers.

Qualifications

BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar with Manufacturing focus.
5+ years in a manufacturing engineering role including NPI or CM experience.
Experience manufacturing medical disposables at scale, including injection molding, welding, films, flexures, inserts/overmolds, packaging, and labeling; experience taking a product from concept to launch and scale.
Design skills including GD&T, design validation, and inspection.
SolidWorks proficiency.
Experience in should-cost analysis and models to evaluate cost of goods.
Experience with Six Sigma tools and Lean Manufacturing concepts.

Responsibilities

Lead DFM reviews and assess manufacturability of designs transitioning to mass production.
Review design docs and specifications with the design team.
Conduct detailed DFM reviews of components and assemblies.
Provide analysis and recommendations for feature and cost tradeoffs in the design phase.
Identify manufacturing technologies relevant to new concepts and advise execution methods.
Collaborate with sourcing on supplier strategy, quotes, and tooling.
Develop manufacturing cost models to inform design decisions.
Drive CM collaboration to meet quality and cost targets.
Plan and manage prototypes and limited pilot runs for new products.
