Job summary

Amazon Center for Quantum Computing seeks a Senior Quantum Applied Scientist to drive design and measurements of novel superconducting qubits on the Device team. You will lead simulations, model building, and experiments while guiding cross-functional groups from design through exploratory research to optimize device performance.

Ideal candidates bring deep superconducting circuit physics expertise, a proven track record bridging design, simulation and measurement, and strong communication

Qualifications

• PhD in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of related experience.
• Experience on multi-team, cross-disciplinary projects.
• Expertise in superconducting circuit design and microwave engineering.
• Proficiency in a scientific programming environment.
• Proven track record of original, impactful quantum physics research.

Responsibilities

• Develop simulations to predict device performance, then design and measure devices that leverage the understood scalings.
• Reduce the gap between simulated predictions and measurements by building more accurate models.
• Communicate scientific findings across the CQC, and share results externally via conferences and publications.
• Identify and evaluate emerging research developments that could impact design decisions.
