TotalEnergies is building a next-generation Integrated Power business in the U.S., seeking a Senior Quantitative Analyst (Contract) to deliver decision-ready market insights. The role focuses on ERCOT and PJM, supporting investment decisions, portfolio optimization, and long-term strategy from Houston or Berkeley.

The candidate will lead data collection, model development, and industry awareness to drive performance for TotalEnergies’ U.S. power ventures and CPPA/Clean Firm Power initiatives.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree in economics, finance, engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in power market analysis or a similar analytical role in the energy sector.
  • Knowledge of asset and portfolio modeling, risk analysis, optimization and pricing.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the US and HQ to align analysis with business objectives.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of US power markets, including supply-demand dynamics and price trends.
  • Collect and manage data from market reports, databases, and internal systems; ensure accuracy.
  • Develop, use and refine models to forecast power market conditions, load profiles, and capacity needs.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, participate in conferences, and share insights internally.

Power the Future of Clean, Flexible Energy

TotalEnergies is building a next-generation Integrated Power business in the U.S., with deep market intelligence at its core. As a Senior Quantitative Analyst (Contract), you will play a key role in developing and sharing insights on U.S. power markets-starting with ERCOT and PJM-to support investment decisions, portfolio optimization, and long-term strategy.

This capability is central to the Flexible Power & Integration Business Unit, a newly established organization in the U.S., enabling TotalEnergies to deliver strong performance and achieve its Integrated Power growth ambitions.

This role sits at the intersection of market analysis, modeling, and business decision-making, offering strong visibility with senior leadership and direct impact on the performance of a rapidly growing organization. This position is able to sit at our Houston, TX headquarters or our Berkeley, CA office.

The Senior Quantitative Analyst provides high-impact market insights to support investment decisions, asset optimization, and portfolio management, including CPPA and Clean Firm Power initiatives. Drawing on internal expertise and external market intelligence, the role delivers clear, decision-ready analysis for senior management that directly informs Company investment decisions.

What You’ll Lead & Deliver
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in the US and in HQ, including market analysis, country experts, trading, portfolio management, and regulatory teams, to align market analysis and modelling activities with overall business objectives. Effectively communicate with senior management and other stakeholders to get insights and recommendations.
  • Market Analysis, Asset Analysis and Benchmarking: Conduct in-depth analysis of the power markets of your perimeter, including supply-demand dynamics, price trends, regulatory changes, and technologies, benchmark internal and external scenarios and be able to explain the differences.
  • Data Collection and Management:Collect and organize relevant data from various sources, including market reports, databases, and internal systems. Ensure data accuracy and integrity and develop robust methodologies for data analysis and interpretation.
  • Model Development and Use:Develop, use and master accurate models and algorithms to forecast power market conditions, load profiles, renewable energy integration, and capacity requirements.
  • Industry Awareness:Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies in the power sector. Participate at industry conferences, events, and regulatory forums. Share market analysis expertise internally, positioning the team as a thought leader in the power market domain.

What You Bring
Required
  • PhD or Master's degree in economics, finance, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5-10 years) in power market analysis or a similar analytical role within the energy sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of Asset and Portfolio modeling, including risk analysis, optimization and pricing. Knowledge US Power Markets is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, forecasting techniques, and data modeling. Experience with statistical software (such as Python, R, or MATLAB) and Modeling softwares (such as BID3, Plexos or PSO) is key.
  • Demonstrated industry awareness and a track record in the power market domain.
  • Knowledge of energy industry trends, renewable energy technologies, and environmental regulations is highly desirable.
