Job summary

The Phia Group is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the QA program for our internal software platforms. You will design and enforce quality standards across the SDLC, develop test plans, and oversee automated and manual testing efforts.

Responsibilities include building a QA team, defining metrics, and guiding release readiness with cross-functional partners in a regulated, HIPAA-aware environment. This is a leadership role in Louisville, KY.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance with at least 2 years in a QA leadership or managerial role.
• Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD) and quality engineering principles.
• Demonstrated success designing and executing test strategies and managing quality plans for complex applications.
• Experience implementing or managing automated testing frameworks and tools.
• Hands‑on experience with issue tracking systems (e.g., Jira), test case management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr), and automation platforms.
• ISTQB or equivalent QA certification.
• Experience working in regulated industries or with compliance-driven environments (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2).
• Experience with internally developed B2B or workflow software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) strategy aligned with product and development goals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, DevOps, and project management) to embed quality practices into every phase of the SDLC.
• Define quality metrics and reporting dashboards to monitor performance, risk, and defects.
• Oversee creation, review, and execution of test plans and test cases for all projects.
• Ensure full traceability of requirements to test coverage and validation results.
• Define the test strategy across manual and automated testing, prioritizing risk-based approaches.
• Design the roadmap for automated testing, with an initial focus on unit and regression testing.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure unit tests are robust and consistently maintained.
• Implement and integrate tools and frameworks for automated regression testing (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, NUnit, Cypress, etc.).
• Build and mentor a QA team with automation capabilities and drive continuous improvement in test coverage and speed.
• Ensure defects are logged, prioritized, and resolved in accordance with severity and project timelines.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and define corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for major quality issues.
• Establish gates and criteria for release readiness and post-release evaluations.
